Choose your Own Adventure

Most Monday nights I make dinner, one of the two nights a week that this happens. I make a huge mess in our little kitchen with every surface covered with the remains of a home cooked meal. I plate us our dinner and then all three of us sit down in the dining room and eat together. It is a tiny moment of calm & reflection in my otherwise hectic Monday Continue reading “Choose your Own Adventure”

Throwback to 9 Weeks A Madre

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Happy ‘throwback thursday’ here today with a post that is from exactly two years ago. Looking at this picture my boy looks like a pet monkey, I can’t beleive it.

I wrote this post at ‘9 weeks a madre‘. The theme of the post is really focused on schedule and having a family routine which is a theme I have been thinking about a lot these past few weeks. We have totally gotten into a routine these days. I won’t bore you with the details but its kind of mind numbing at some points during the week. Weekends definitely are a time when we mix things up and break the routine which is really refreshing. Continue reading “Throwback to 9 Weeks A Madre”

Since this is kind of a ‘mom blog’ after all. I get the chance to drop in some sweet motherhood moments to share and remember. Today is one of those days.

Ever since Mario was born I have sung him a lullaby that I remember my own madre singing. I don’t actually remember her singing it to me but I remember her singing it to my brother, who is 13 years my junior. I adlibbed the second verse because I don’t remember how it ended. I have been singing it to him off and on throughout his life. Continue reading “sweet a.f.”

2016 year in review

2017. I caught myself writing that down with an old fashioned pen and paper today and I had a flashback to middle school. When you would have to adjust to writing the new year and it would take a month or so til you got it right. But wow, here we are, another year. Filled with quite a few blog posts. Posts about motherhood (duh), friendships, housing drama & ‘me time’.

The 5 habits of a bad mom

While the title of this post is slightly in jest it is most of all a curation of my own bad habits in this role of ‘mom’. Things that I realize are habits we have formed and we are working on adjusting. But still a funny collection of all the things I forget to do or didn’t even think was something I needed to be doing- ok probably digging myself deeper here… Jumping right into  ‘the five habits of a bad mom’.

‘Find me’ in French

‘Madre’ is mother in Spanish and in French ‘maman’. I give you this language lesson because today I am on Maman In Portland’s blog sharing a little east-side city guide focusing on our frequented spots as a family.

Enjoy! xx ly

21* things at 21 months

Mo is practically 22 months old. Technically he hits 22 months this weekend but it has been a while since I properly updated on life as a madre so here we go. *Full disclosure: I started this post almost two weeks ago but realized quickly that it was going to be quite lengthy. So breaking up into a three parter.

Five things from an MBA Madre

MBA MOM

Back this week with a guest post from my longtime friend Sarah J. Sarah and I went to elementary school and were neighbors growing up, we were a few years apart in school and had fun making the teachers believe we were sisters. We pulled it off pretty well until the fifth grade or so.

Today Sarah lives in NYC with her husband and seven month old son Sol. Soon after she became a madre I told Sarah that whenever she was ready I would love to have her share her experiences on the blog. I left the brief open and am so happy to report that the post she pulled together is all about the five things she wants new moms to know. What she isn’t telling you though, is that this could also easily be ‘five things that got me through the last six months of my MBA and the first six months of being a madre‘. Sarah has just graduated, in May, with an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. TOTAL MOM GOALS. Continue reading “Five things from an MBA Madre”
