Happy Saturday! Before I commit myself to #momlyfe for the weekend, and while I am at my computer awaiting a few documents for a Saturday morning conference call (eee!), I wanted to share a guest post with you.
Fellow working mom Katie McBreen is a long distance friend. We actually have never met IRL, but I used to work with her twin sister so I feel like I know her and we are great insta friends online. Katie lives in Washington DC Continue reading “GUEST POST: 5 things from a mom boss”
Somehow I have a nearly two-and-a-half-year-old boy, B-O-Y.
On his second birthday I wrote that I had always wanted a two year old boy, it was the stage I looked forward to the most. A cute and misbehaving companion that enjoys walks through the neighborhood holding my hand, one way conversation that can be quite annoying considering his dismissal of my behavioral corrections but also quite charming when sitting at the dinner table using his flatware and stemmed (plastic) wine glasses on occasion.
Below is a handful of “status updates” on life two years and five months into motherhood.
CONVERSATION As mentioned above he is becoming a chatty cathy who throws in dramatic hand gestures and unexpected facial cues into almost every ‘conversation’ we have. His eye rolls and winks are very distracting (in a cute way) when trying to interpret his words. A sample of some of his phrases are as follow: “don’t want to”, “I do it”, “need a tissue”, “I wash my hands” said as a demand and intended to mean that he must wash his hands. He loves washing his hands. Continue reading “Nearly 2.5 years a Madre”
Happy ‘throwback thursday’ here today with a post that is from exactly two years ago. Looking at this picture my boy looks like a pet monkey, I can’t beleive it.
I wrote this post at ‘9 weeks a madre‘. The theme of the post is really focused on schedule and having a family routine which is a theme I have been thinking about a lot these past few weeks. We have totally gotten into a routine these days. I won’t bore you with the details but its kind of mind numbing at some points during the week. Weekends definitely are a time when we mix things up and break the routine which is really refreshing. Continue reading “Throwback to 9 Weeks A Madre”
Hi! Felt like today was a great day for a #throwbackthursday post. Since Mo is turning two this month, on the 23rd, I wanted to step back and share a post about the early days. This post titled ‘7 weeks a madre’ is all about the ups and mostly downs of breastfeeding (cracked & infected nipples), sleep deprivation, post-partum workouts & the silly sweetness of having a newborn.
Looking back at photos from this time Mike and I both look super sleepy and our baby boy looks like a little rag doll- skinny, floppy and very small. I am trying to remember things that I did not write about back then or maybe glossed over. Continue reading “#throwback to 7 weeks a madre”
Back this week with a guest post from my longtime friend Sarah J. Sarah and I went to elementary school and were neighbors growing up, we were a few years apart in school and had fun making the teachers believe we were sisters. We pulled it off pretty well until the fifth grade or so.
Today Sarah lives in NYC with her husband and seven month old son Sol. Soon after she became a madre I told Sarah that whenever she was ready I would love to have her share her experiences on the blog. I left the brief open and am so happy to report that the post she pulled together is all about the five things she wants new moms to know. What she isn’t telling you though, is that this could also easily be ‘five things that got me through the last six months of my MBA and the first six months of being a madre‘. Sarah has just graduated, in May, with an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. TOTAL MOM GOALS. Continue reading “Five things from an MBA Madre”
