I decided a few weeks back that I would be a mummy for Halloween this year. Get it..? Jessica Simpson is the most popular pregnant mummy costume so of course I am looking to her for a bit of inspiration. I have some ace bandages and old white t shirts that I am going to begin tearing up this evening, I might have to get into a roll of toilet paper too. Hopefully it all works out. I will likely be much less glam than Mrs. Simpson but she offers something to strive for! Happy Halloween! xx Ly
This might just become diaper bag week here on Making La Madre! After going through my bloglovin feed yesterday morning I saw that blog-friends Katie and Regan at Cardigan’s & Couture just posted about their favorite bag from, new to me designer/brand, Merin Design. They both have the Ketchum bag and use them as totes that take them around town for their various activities: spin class, visits to the park, dog walks, etc.
At about 10 weeks I was on the hunt for some pants that were a little more comfortable than my existing skinnies. I opted for a pair of boyfriend jeans at Forever 21. I bought them in my typical size but loved the extra room, relaxed fit and the distressed denim style.
This madre is on the hunt for a bag that both madre y padre can use for toting babies must haves when we are out and about. Obviously something with room for diapers, bottles and snacks. My +1 thinks room for his gym clothes and laptop would be good too. Either way we are on the hunt and I am having a hard time finding something that will work for us. My initial idea was to get a tote or backpack from Filson, a brand we love. Below are a couple street style snaps I found on the web that show you how a madre or padre can rock the bags.
It is week 5 of the Maternity Style Crush series! Today’s style crush is former Destiny’s Child star and bff to Queen Bey: Kelly Rowland.
Her look above is kind of a Game of Thrones, mother goddess mash up that no one could argue with.
While I have been impressed with Kelly’s dedication and commitment to the gym and her workout style! My favorite maternity look of her was what she wore to Jay & Bey’s On The Run Tour (below). But what is consistent in each photo is how happy she is in each foto- the smile says it all!
The baby moccasin trend is alive and well. I remember a couple years back when Freshly Picked was introduced, I think maternity style crush Kourtney K was the first to introduce me to them, I was in love with the moccs- how cute, how practical and how perfect for my future kid. The moccs have blown up in the past couple years- you can buy multiple colors, patterns and limited edition styles from their site and you can even buy them at Nordstrom! Once I got to a point a couple months back where I started exploring baby items I was hesitant to purchase them and even more hesitant to throw them on my registry due to their $60 price tag.
I referenced that a name change might be coming and today is the day. My initial intention for this blog was a maternity style blog inspired by Madewell as proven in the first few posts. But as I have dived in deeper to the writing and planning of the blog I am having a good time exploring other subjects and issues. I didn’t want the focus of the blog to only be hinged on clothes from Madewell or really only just clothes. I soon started blogging about other brands (duh!), strollers and parenting dilemmas that I have begun to encounter.
Today’s post is about a very real parenting dilemma that we will soon be facing. Hashtags, Instagrams and social media account presence for our soon to be born. I have kept my bump off of social media. Not posting weekly or monthly ‘bumpies’ and not posting nursery favorites to a Pinterest board. But surely once this little person gets here I will be so proud of the sucker that I will want to share my news. But I am struggling with where I do it and how I do it.
Today’s post is about the white button up I purchased from Madewell at the beginning of my blogging journey. I purchased the oversize button down shirt about a month ago when I was in Santa Monica. I finally wore it just this week and was very happy with the fit and flatter of it.
It should come as no surprise that today’s maternity style crush is the obvious stunner Blake Lively. She is the most recent celebrity to announce that she is with child and the one, aside from Amal Clooney, who fashionistas are likely most excited to see how she styles the bump. She has always had unique and fabulous personal style and the photos of her revealing her pregnancy are perfection.
